Ok ppl, so i have not played live for about 10 years or so. I was asked to play at an event, One Self, on May 3rd.
I was to play using final scratch or scrach live but it didnt work out. Good thing I had my old records from the early to mid 90s with me. So here is my first time playing live in about ten years. The mixing is crap, I was just throwing records on while trying to remember what tracks are on what records, lol. I ended up playing records that had never been played before. If you wanna… Continue

I hadn't been to an Avaland night since Bad Boy Bill last August. It was awfully crowded that night but as far as Superstar DJ venues in Hollywood are concerned I find it a bit easier to maneuver around a crowded Avalon compared to a packed Vanguard.
I think the crowd size for Porter and Switch was just right; not enough to warrant entry to the "grandstands" save for the few and the proud but sizeable enough to feel you were at a party people wanted…

So i originally wrote this on my trance music blog on Jun 23, 2006 about Tiesto:
"Tiësto is one of the top 3 DJs in the world along with Armin van Buuren
and Paul van Dyk. However I have noticed a lot of mixed feelings
towards him in the trance and EDM scene. He is a love him or hate him
kind of guy right now(mostly love though). Personally I love Tiesto. He
is a great producer, a great DJ, and a great remixer and he is vital to
the trance scene that exists today. I hear a few… Continue

Each of us has been blessed with an innate need to celebrate and glorify life. At a most basic level, we honor the forces that came together to bring us into being by caring for our bodies and our souls. To truly rejoice in existence, we must also learn to cultivate loveliness in those special places that replenish the soul. When we create a garden sanc…
So we went to the Avalon in Hollywood last night to go see John Digweed, but were denied entrance because we were dressed normal -- meaning we wore shorts to the club on a hot night because we knew were going to be dancing all night. Sounds like the practical thing to do, right?
Wrong.
Check out our new tracks "Fuck the Dress Code" and "Put Me In A Box" in our COMPRESSION player! :)

You can make your own as well. I think RA is a great site and well trafficked by a lot of people who know their music. Well worth the effort if you are serious about being a DJ.
Thanks to everyone who came out and heard Chris rip a new one into our sound system. Its interesting, because as most of us know, Fortier came from a progressive house background (or more precisely - an underground ho…
Watching the growth of techno in Los Angeles from the beginning of Droid to the birth of Compression, I really feel that Los Angeles is not what it was 7 years ago when I first moved here from the Eastcoast. One of the things that I've realized compared to other places in the U.S., is that we have a good thing going. No b.s., just great parties and people who want to have fun. We all work together, and that, is the powering force behind Los Angeles becoming widely recognized on the global map. T… Continue

Hey fellow Compressors! I put up a mix on my music player called "Something For Everyone". I made it last fall, after a gig I had at LA Burning Man Decompression Street Faire - my very first one, actually. I had come up with about 30 tracks that I would play at that gig and this gave me the idea of making a mix out of them. I spent a lot of time designing the thing, with a smooth build to a banging electro peak, followed by some tweaked-out and minimal tracks, ending with a soft landing that wil… Continue
